CCS Executive Director, Sally Buchanan was recently honored at the 2011 Georgia Conference on Children and Families for her outstanding leadership contributions to her staff and agency.
"Sally Buchanan started Creative Community Services in 1982 and will be celebrating 30 years of service this coming year. The agency has steadily grown under her leadership as Executive Director. Sally demonstrates a number of strengths and abilities that have been essential to the success of CCS. She has been a mentor, a leader, an advocate and a friend to so many.
Creative Community Services operates several programs that benefit children, adults, and their families and the need for services continues to expand, especially in areas outside of metro Atlanta. Sally has driven the CCS mission of “Improving the quality of life for children, adults and families who are facing special challenges through community based support and services”. She leads her staff by example with her special gift of not only recognizing potential partnerships with other agencies but making them happen. If we had a dollar for every time Sally is heard to say, “It’s about the child so we need to make this happen”, there would never be a need for fundraising!
Sally has worked tenaciously to build up and provide services to achieve her agency’s mission. From her innovative development of the Therapeutic Foster Care Program and Adventure Youth Program, to Respite, Crisis Respite and Developmental Disabilities Programming, to new horizons with the STEP and SOARS Programs, Sally continues to be an advocate for those we serve as well as those we serve with.
Our Executive Director is advocacy in action; a supporter, a promoter, an activist, a believer. She advocates on a daily basis for services to support a disadvantaged population who would be hopeless without these supports. We wish to honor her for her outstanding leadership and look forward to being a part of the next 30 years!"
