Volunteer Opportunities:

Here's what staff, foster parents, family members, youth/young adults in our TFC and Respite Programs, and adults who use services through CCS Adult Program have told us would be helpful:

Administrative - assisting with mailings, beautification efforts for our sites, filing, assistance within the CCS Development Department to include set-up, implementation, clean-up, etc. for special agency events, welcome gifts for youth/young adults or adults who are being introduced to CCS for the first time, holiday gift giving/sponsorship, back-to-school needs of youth/young adults, helping to send cards/letters of encouragement, and potentially working with our agency newsletter.

Social Opportunities - Youth/young adults in our Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) and Respite programs are in need of transportation and chaperones to attend a variety of fun events (sporting events, bowling, roller skating) with CCS Staff. Adults using services through CCS Adult Program may enlist the support of Volunteers to assist them with planning and hosting social events in their communities. Activities are usually on Saturdays, some evenings and Sundays. Volunteer for one or all - options and schedules are available on our Events post below.

Shopping/Transportation - Many people need assistance to get to and from various places: stores, medical appointments, social events, work.

Foster Parent Support/Training Groups - childcare at monthly meetings/trainings across several areas of metro-Atlanta and beyond (to include day-long training sessions in the North GA area).

Mentoring (additional training provided) - mentoring as a dedicated, committed adult willing to be a supportive person in someone's life/role model, job coaching, teaching/tutoring, supporting some young people (ages 14+) in attending meetings with Georgia's Independent Living Program, teaching life skills (i.e. cooking, computer skills, resume building, pursuing college or technical school, banking/budgeting/finance, apartment hunting, etc.)

Tutoring (additional training provided) - offering/teaching learning tools and programs (i.e. reading, math) to youth, young adults, adults, foster parents and staff with CCS.

Life Skills Training - Both DD and TFC have opportunities for life skill training sessions. These skills might include: cooking, internet use, how to get into college, how to build a resume for a job, banking/finance, apartment hunting, etc. Volunteer's input and ideas would be welcome!
